How to mute words and hashtags on Twitter Desktop

  1. From the side navigation menu, select More, then Settings and privacy.
  2. Select the Privacy and safety tab, then Mute and block.
  3. Then, click Muted words and click the plus sign.
  4. Enter the word or hashtag that you want to silence.
  5. If you want to silence a word or phrase from your Home timeline, choose Home timeline.
  6. If you want to silence the word or phrase from your Notifications, choose Notifications.
  7. Specify if it is from anyone or from people you do not follow.
  8. Select Forever, 24 hours from now, 7 days from now, or 30 days from now under Mute timing.
  9. Click the Save Button

  1. Navigate to the Notifications tab.
  2. Select the gear icon.
  3. Tap Muted words, then the plus sign.
  4. Enter the word or hashtag you want to silence.
  5. Choose whether to activate it on the Home timeline, Notifications, or both.
  6. Choose between Anyone and People You Don't Follow.
  7. Select between Forever, 24 hours, 7 days, or 30 days.
  8. Click the Save button.

  1. Navigate to the Notifications tab.
  2. Select the gear icon.
  3. Tap Muted, then Muted words, and then click Add.
